Challenger Little League, a Lubbock-based nonprofit founded in 1991 by a dedicated group of volunteers and parents, provides children with disabilities the opportunity to play baseball in an inclusive and supportive environment. After a challenging inaugural season, the organization partnered with Lubbock’s three AMBUCS chapters. Working "Shoulders Together," AMBUCS and Challenger volunteers adapted the baseball diamond, incorporating a synthetic infield to ensure accessibility for players of all abilities. Today, over 150 players enjoy the game on this specially designed field, where home runs outshine outs, and the joy of playing takes center stage. Many AMBUCS members proudly volunteer as game officials, celebrating the players’ achievements.
